The St. Joseph boys basketball team led by 11 after three quarters against Arroyo Grande, and despite a late comeback led by Eagles' senior Gage Gomez, the Knights survived in overtime, 67-64, on Friday night at St. Joseph High School.
Trailing by two with seconds left in regulation, Gomez's three fell short, but Michael Atherton's putback at the buzzer tied the game at 61, forcing overtime.
Gomez tried a game-tying three with seconds left in OT but his attempt was blocked, giving St. Joseph the win at home.
