The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a
Wind Advisory, which is in effect from 3 PM this afternoon to
3 AM PDT Tuesday.
* WINDS AND TIMING…Gusty northwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts
to 35 mph will develop across the western portion of the Santa
Barbara South Coast and adjacent foothills by mid to late
afternoon today. Winds will increase and shift to the north
between 15 and 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph by this evening.
Strongest winds will occur between Refugio and Gaviota. Winds
will continue past midnight, then diminish some throughout the
early morning hours.
* IMPACTS…Gusty winds will make driving difficult, especially
for high profile vehicles. This includes Highways 101 and 154 as
well as the Gaviota and San Marcos Passes. In addition, the
combination of gusty sundowner winds with warm and dry
conditions will bring elevated fire danger to the western
portions of the Santa Barbara south coast and adjacent
foothills.
When driving, use extra caution. Be prepared for sudden gusty
cross winds.
