Morning marine layer and dense fog returns Friday

Morning marine layer, fog, and drizzle are all back Friday morning and it could impact drivers during the morning commute.

Dense fog was reported Friday morning for areas in the coastal valleys, including Lompoc and Santa Maria. Models show the fog will start to clear closer to 9:00 a.m. At the coast, marine layer looks to linger into the early afternoon hours with periods of clearing before the foggy conditions return early Friday night. As a result, expect daytime highs for both the coastal valleys and beaches to be cooler by about 10 degrees. Temperatures in the coastal valleys will stay within the low 70s to the upper-70s range, while the beaches will be around the mid-60s to low 70s.

Inland valley daytime highs are still fluctuating between the upper 80s and low 90s with plenty of sunshine. These conditions will carry over into the start of next week, too.

Moderate northwesterly 10-20 mile per hour winds are in the forecast on Friday, which will bring a light breeze throughout the afternoon hours.
