UPDATE: Fire Crews fully contained Antelope Fire Tuesday

UPDATE (Tuesday 11:35 a.m.)- CAL FIRE has not updated its status report website HERE, and the latest statistics stand with the fire at 70% containment and the size at 2,410 acres.

UPDATE (Monday 9:32 p.m.)- Fire crews say the Antelope fire is now 70% contained.

UPDATE (Monday, 11:45 a.m.) - As of our last check just before noon on Monday, CAL FIRE has not updated the status report on the Antelope fire. We will continue to check for the latest statistics on size and containment, as well as any damage reports, when new information becomes available.

UPDATE (Monday, 4:14 a.m.) - CAL FIRE reports the Antelope fire burning in San Luis Obispo and Kern Counties is now 45% contained, at 2,410 acres as of early Monday morning. An image from the agency's website below shows where it is located, near Shandon. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The fire started on Saturday, August 8. According to the agency, detours in the area include: Westbound SR-46 west of SR-33 : Detour Northbound SR-33, then Southbound SR-41, back to Westbound SR-46.

UPDATE (Sunday, 8:06 a.m.) - The fire has burned 2,091 acres and was 20 percent contained as of Sunday morning, according to CAL FIRE. CHP reports Highway 41 reopened at around 1 a.m.

UPDATE (Saturday, 10:43 p.m.): Cal Fire reports forward progress on the fire has been stopped. According to CHP Templeton, State Route 46 is now open.

The closure on State Route 41 remains in place.

UPDATE (8:37 p.m.): Cal Fire reports the fire has burned to nearly 2,091 acres. According to Watch Duty, the fire is now impacting Highway 41 and has reached into Kern County.

UPDATE (7:18 p.m.): The fire has burned nearly 600 acres. According to Cal Fire, road closures include westbound SR-46 west of SR-33. Detour Northbound SR-33, then Southbound SR-41, back to Westbound SR-46.

Crews with the San Luis Obispo County Fire Department are responding to a report of a vegetation fire on the north side of Highway 46 near the Shandon area.

According to fire officials, the fire has grown to 125 acres and is growing at a moderate rate of speed. The fire has the potential to grow up to 500 acres.

Crews have requested five additional type-3 wildland engines, five additional type-3 wildland engines, two additional type-3 multi-engine air tankers, and two type-1 large air tankers to assist with containing the fire.

CHP has requested to shut down the highway.
