UPDATE: Vegetation fire in Paso Robles sparked by discarded smoking material, officials say

UPDATE (9:10 p.m.) - Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services responded to the back lot of a property along Black Oak Drive for a report of a vegetation fire. around 4 p.m.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a brush fire burning between two commercial lots.

The fire spread to the neighboring commercial storage yard containing a variety of roofing material along Riverside Ave.

According to fire officials, the burning material produced a black plume of smoke that could be seen throughout the city.

The fire was contained shortly after it broke out and did not spread to nearby structures, according authorities.

The fire was sparked by discarded smoking material, according to the fire investigator.

According to officials, the fire broke out just after 4 p.m. near Black Oak Dr. just off Riverside Ave.
