It's probably fair to say that Central Coast residents are ready for a shift in the weather pattern. Between smokey skies, above-average temperatures and humidity last week, Monday's forecast is shaping up to be average for this time of the year.

Patchy low clouds and fog are back along the coast and over coastal valleys Monday morning. Drivers should make sure their headlights are on during the morning commute, and they may also need to increase their following distance if the fog becomes dense on local roads and highways.

By the afternoon daytime highs along the coast will stay between the upper 60s and mid-70s with wind speeds up to 15 to 20 miles per hour. For the coastal valleys, temperatures will peak around the 70s and 80s with mostly clear skies and mild to moderate winds. The inland valley communities will have the warmest temperatures from the upper 80s to upper 90s and gusty wind speeds between 20 and 25 mph.

Southwesterly winds pushed remnants of Tropical Storm Genevieve through the Central Coast Sunday. The result was shower activity with some thunder and lightning. The satellite radar was not showing much activity Monday morning and rainfall amounts from Sunday were not measurable, indicating most of the area mostly saw sprinkles Sunday.

Through the rest of the week, temperatures will remain fairly consistent and the marine layer along the coast will persist.
