Good Monday evening, Central Coast, from Meteorologist Jim Castillo

Marine layer clouds will remain confined to coastal areas through much of this week. The Central Coast can expect reliable marine layer development each morning, with low clouds hugging the coastline while interior areas stay clear.

Heat Development

A significant weather pattern shift is underway as an expansive upper-level high-pressure system moves westward from Texas toward Arizona. This system will drive temperatures well above normal across inland valleys Tuesday through Thursday.

Heat Risk and Advisories

Moderate Heat Risk is forecast for the warmest inland locations Tuesday through Thursday. Heat Advisories will be in effect for inland valleys and lower mountain elevations during this period, with a possibility of extending into Friday.

The Central Coast will experience the most moderate impacts, with temperatures ending up within a few degrees of normal or slightly below, while inland areas face significant heat.

Wind Patterns

Gusty north winds will develop each evening and overnight across southwest Santa Barbara County. Most winds will remain below advisory levels, though the Gaviota area may see advisory-level conditions.

Morning surface gradients will likely be weakly offshore, transitioning to weakly onshore flow during afternoons. This pattern will keep marine layer clouds confined to coastal areas.

Weekend Outlook

Friday brings slight cooling as mid- and high-level clouds increase, though maximum temperatures will remain well above normal. A weak trough moving through the Pacific Northwest and northern California will nudge the high-pressure system eastward over the weekend.

Weekend Cooling: Expect a few degrees of cooling each day.

Have a great night, Central Coast!
