You have likely seen Aasim Sajjad throughout town, either at a special event or at his usual spot at Thursday's Farmer's Market in downtown San Luis Obispo.

"I work eight days a week," Sajjad laughed. "I love to serve people."

His restaurant, Shalimar Indian Restaurant, opened in 2008 and is one of the only places you can find authentic Punjabi cuisine.

Sajjad's says the menu is his family recipes from Pakistan, rich in vegetables and spices. It is tandoori cooked in a traditional clay oven.

If you have never had traditional Indian food, Sajjad you can't miss with the chicken tikka masala or aloo gobi.

"We have a lot of good stuff," Aasim said.

You can order take-out from the restaurant located on Broad Street in the Marigold Center.

When life resumes, Shalimar offers daily lunch buffets and also catering for events.
