Chief Kevin Shay was officially sworn in as Lompoc's permanent fire chief during Tuesday night's city council meeting.
Shay has been serving as interim chief since March. The city confirmed he took on the permanent role at the beginning of August.
City leaders say Shay has more than 20 years of experience, with 18 of those years serving in Lompoc.
Shay said he is committed to providing dependable service to the community every day.
