Warm inland valley temperatures continue Monday

and last updated

As the Range Fire continues to burn in Santa Ynez Valley, daytime highs will reach the low to upper 90s for the interior valleys, mountains, and foothills across San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties.

Aside from the heat, locally gusty conditions will elevate fire concern as crews continue to work towards containment of the Range Fire. Over Santa Ynez Valley, winds have the potential to range from 15-25 miles per hour, with peak gusts from 11 a.m. To 10 p.m. Back at the coast and in the western half of Santa Barbara County, sundowner winds are expected to pick up Monday night. Gusts could reach 40 miles per hour between Gaviota and Refugio.

The coastal valleys will have mild temperatures Monday with daytime highs expecting to reach the low to mid-70s. For those looking to beat the heat, the beaches will have temperatures from the low to upper 60s with mostly foggy skies throughout the morning. By the early afternoon, most of the fog will lift and sunshine will start to peek through.
