Rocco Horner
Rocco Horner, a Sophomore Soccer player from SLO High School was nominated Captain by his peers for the past 2 years and maintains a 4.35 GPA. As a strong leader, he is motivated by serving his teammates with a positive attitude and presence. He’s also a driven student, taking many AP and honors classes. His hard work has paid off — he’s been recognized with the Best Sportsmanship award at tournament, is a Golden Boot season player, and an explosive running back in flag football! And (knock on wood!) Rocco has never received a card in his ten years of playing soccer! Congratulations Rocco!
Abigayle Tuller
Abigayle Tuller has been instrumental in growing the women's wrestling program during her time at Morro Bay High School. Along with taking 1st place in her weight class at the CIF Championship, Abby also qualified for the Masters Tournament in Fresno. On top of it all, she earned a 4.375 overall GPA — taking AP and Honors courses — and is known for her especially kind and caring attitude. Congratulations Abigayle!
Damon Guillen-Mitchell
Damon Guillen-Mitchell is a standout triple threat athlete from Atascadero High School, playing Football, Baseball, and Basketball. He's broken a 20-year school record for rushing yards in a single game and was also named Pitcher of the Year. Additionally, he’s a three-year varsity basketball starter who’s gone into CIF Finals with his team, something the school hasn’t seen in over 50 years. Damon holds an impressive 4.75 GPA while taking AP, honors, and dual enrollment courses. Beyond that, he’s a leader on campus, active in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, helped start the first Black Student Union at Atascadero High School, and has been nominated for CIF Student Athlete of the Year! Beyond her impressive academics, Natalie shines in athletics—competing in multiple varsity sports, including water polo, club soccer, and more. She's known for her leadership, encouragement of teammates, and unwavering commitment to every practice and game.
Riley Dalton
Riley is an outstanding student leader and athlete at Nipomo High School, serving as ASB Freshman Class President, FFA Greenland Officer, a senior with Girl Scout Troop 55101, and the goals & points leader for Girls Varsity Water Polo. She's also ranked #2 freshman in the state for goals and Top 10 in the Central Section/CIF. Congratulations Riley!
Sofia Pierson
When we arrived to honor Sofia Rodriguez Pierson as this month's Academic Athlete of the Month, the room was filled with people who came to celebrate her — teachers, teammates, coaches, and family, all sharing the most heartfelt words about her character, leadership, and drive. Sofia has maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout all four years of high school, competes in Parliamentary Procedure and Model UN with SLOHS, and dominates on the golf course — finishing 1st place in every single competition in 2025, including shooting 2 under par at her last tournament and beating the entire field by 21 strokes. Sofia will continue her journey playing college golf at Cal State LA!
Sophie Ramirez
Sophie is a standout scholar-athlete from Cabrillo High School, excelling both on the field and in the classroom. She's a cross-country and soccer star, ASB Vice President, National Honor Society member, and a dedicated volunteer at the Santa Barbara County Animal Shelter. Her hard work, leadership, and community spirit truly maker her a role model for students across the Central Coast!
