Authorities are seeking information on a possible witness to a fatal crash near Lompoc earlier this year.

The crash happened Saturday, Aug. 22, shortly after 6:30 a.m. on Harris Grade Road south of Burton Mesa Boulevard.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Isaac DeLuna of Lompoc was heading southbound on Harris Grade Road when he lost control of his car and crossed into oncoming traffic.

DeLuna collided with an oncoming vehicle, driven by Benjamin Romayor, 68, of Lompoc, according to CHP.

Romayor died from his injuries.

THe Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office says in reviewing bodycamera footage from a sheriff’s deputy, it’s believed a witness to the crash may have been on scene prior to first responders ad spoken with the suspect.

The possible witness is described as a man wearing maroon medical scrubs and driving the car pictured at the scene below.

The DA’s Office says the man was never identified or interviewed but is believed to have “valuable information for the investigation.”

Anyone with information that may help with the investigation is asked to call Investigator Tina Perkins at (805) 737-7766.

DeLuna arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
