Arroyo Grande High School senior kicker Colton Theaker signed his National Letter of Intent to play football at Cal Poly during Wednesday’s Division 1 early signing period.

In his senior campaign with the Eagles, Theaker connected on all 45 of his extra point attempts and went 10 of 15 on field goal attempts, including a long of 52 yards.

Theaker explained why Cal Poly is the school choice for him.

“I chose Cal Poly because one, I want to be a business major. It’s a great program and a great education. I also love where I live,” Theaker said. “I love the area and the people here. It’s a family, and it’s a community that’s really great. Ultimately, I want to go compete and do a great job at Cal Poly.”

Tim Walsh, Cal Poly’s head football coach, said today during his early signing day press conference that Theaker will be something special once he gets to campus and that he’ll have an opportunity to start right away as a freshman.
