The Five Cities 14U All-Stars blanked South Reno (NV), 11-0 in five innings, on the second day of the Babe Ruth Pacific Southwest Regional at the Soto Sports Complex in Arroyo Grande.
Ty Scrudato and Mikey Afzali combined to throw a one-hitter for Five Cities. Scrudato started off with three innings and Afzali closed down the final two.
The two pitchers also led the way at the plate. Scrudato tallied a team-high three hits while Afzali added two hits and four RBI.
Afzali says his approach at the plate helped him drive in all those runs.
“I just hit the ball. With two runners on second and third, keeping the ball to the right side to score the runners,” Afzali said.
Five Cities plated seven runs in the fourth inning to put the 10-run rule into effect. With the win, they improve to 18-0 this summer.
Next up for Five Cities, a matchup with Hawaii on Wednesday at 6 P.M.
