Tyler McCoy and Michahjuliana Lundberg were honored Monday afternoon in Santa Maria at the Northern Santa Barbara County Athletic Round Table luncheon.
Lundberg, the female athlete of the week, is a freshman standout on the St. Joseph girls tennis team. Lundberg has led the Knights to a 6-0 start this season, while winning both singles and doubles matches last week against Righetti and Atascadero.
"My coach really wants to get us to win the whole league," Lundberg said. "All of our teammates are so close so we all want to win this together and get first place."
McCoy, the male athlete of the week, is the quarterback for Valley Christian Academy. In last Friday's route of Laton, 65-28, McCoy combined for six touchdowns, three rushing and three passing. He was also a menace on defense, recording 15 tackles, a fumble recovery, and two interceptions.
"It feels great. It's an honor to be here," McCoy said. "Being selected as a student-athlete, it's a great feeling. Winning it, it's a whole another level."
