Crystal Bermudez is a multimedia journalist at KSBY News, covering Santa Maria and the Central Coast. She joined the station in April 2025, bringing her passion for storytelling and community-focused journalism to the Central Coast after nearly two years anchoring and producing morning news in New York.
Before joining KSBY, Crystal was the morning anchor and producer for Good Morning Twin Tiers at WENY News in Elmira, New York. During her time there, she and her team were recognized with the "Best Morning Newscast" award by the New York State Broadcasters Association in 2024.
Originally from Bayonne, New Jersey, Crystal holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a minor in Political Science from Hofstra University. Her journalism journey began in radio at WRHU 88.7 FM, where she served as an anchor and producer. She received national recognition as a finalist for the IBS Golden Microphone Trophy Awards for her international news show, Around The World: Latin and Caribbean News.
She is also a 2022 Gracie Award Honoree by the Alliance for Women in Media for her radio coverage of abortion rights protests on Long Island. Crystal has reported extensively on immigration issues, including coverage of ICE detainees during a hunger strike that earned acknowledgment from the Long Island Press Club.
While at Hofstra, she contributed to both radio and television through HEAT Network and Hofstra Votes Live, anchoring live election coverage during the 2020 presidential and 2022 midterm elections. In 2021, she joined ABC News as a production intern on Nightline, where she gained invaluable experience working on high-impact national stories over the course of a full year.
When she’s not chasing stories, Crystal enjoys exploring California’s coastal towns, dancing salsa, experimenting with new recipes, and searching for vintage finds at local thrift shops.
