The Cal Poly men's basketball team closed a 15 point second half deficit to two but could not get any closer. The Mustangs lost to Long Beach State 79-69 ending their season in the quarterfinals of the Big West Conference Tournament on Thursday night in Anaheim.

The UC Santa Barbara women punched their ticket in to the semifinals of the Big West Conference Tournament in Anaheim. The Gauchos beat Long Beach State 73-50 on Thursday afternoon for their season-best seventh straight win.

Special needs instructors in San Luis Obispo have a big job. They teach adults with disabilities job skills and now they're the latest group to fall victim to the state's budget crisis.
The San Luis Coastal Unified School District has notified ten teachers they could lose their jobs at the end of June. The special program has been a part of the community for more than 40 years.

A class in Paso Robles gets a big boost -- from the latest "One Class at a Time" grant.

Today was fantastic, and much of Friday looks nice with partly cloudy skies. However Friday night another fast moving cold front slices through the area for some rain, should be less than.40". That front is gone early Saturday morning, but it'll mean Saturday's highs will likely stay in the low 60s.
After that dramatic warming is possible as stronger offshore winds develop. 70s and even a few 80s could happen Sunday through Tuesday.

A warning for seniors when it comes to increased scams at Census time. The Area Agency on Aging wants the elderly to be aware that's a time scammers tend to target them.
The agency stressed it's important to fill out the information because Census data directly impacts services for senior citizens. It determines how much funding is received. However, the agency said seniors need to ask census workers for identification.

It's a valuable tool during an emergency and now the Reverse 911 system in Santa Barbara County has some new upgrades. Since 2005, the sheriff's department has utilized the Reverse 911 system. Back then, it could call virtually every landline in Santa Barbara County.
With the new upgrades, residents can register themselves on-line. They can also receive emergency messages through email and TTY messages for the hearing impaired.

Cal Poly football announced it will play seven games against Football Bowl Subdivision opponents over the next five years, including its first ever Pac-10 team. The Mustangs will take on Arizona State on September 19, 2015.

SAN DIEGO (AP) - A law firm for the driver who says his Toyota Prius sped out of control on a San Diego County freeway doesn't plan to sue the Japanese automaker.
The Gomez Law Firm sent a release to the media Thursday, saying it represents 61-year-old James Sikes. It was unclear why the law firm was retained. A phone message left for the firm wasn't immediately returned.

Mission Prep graduate Jordan Hasay is a day away from chasing down her first collegiate national title.
The University of Oregon freshman is in Fayetteville, Arkansas for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Twenty-year-old Alicia Renee Carreras from Arroyo Grande was found dead in her car early Thursday morning.
Investigators believe at about 3:00 a.m. Thursday, the woman veered off of Stanton Rd. in Arroyo Grande, and crashed into the tree near Lyn Rd. Carreras wasn't found until about 5:20 a.m., when a passing driver saw the crash and alerted authorities. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Records obtained by The Associated Press show a convicted sex offender charged with killing a 17-year-old San Diego County girl could have been sent back to prison for violating his parole.
The records show parole officials found John Albert Gardner III was illegally living within a half-mile of a school in September 2007.
