NEW YORK (AP) - Stocks are edging higher after reports on housing, manufacturing and jobs indicated the economy continues to grow, albeit slowly.

The Labor Department says first-time claims for unemployment benefits fell slightly last week, but remain well above levels that indicate a healthy economy. The number of buyers who signed contracts to purchase homes also rose.

Thursday weather echos Labor Day weekend trend

Yesterday proved to be kind of a confounding day in terms of how the general weather was over the region. While the majority of the area saw plently of sunshine, some cloudiness and fog still oscillated back and forth along the coast. At times it would be right along the beaches and other times just offshore of them. Despite yesterday's easterly wind component which should have kept the marine clouds away for everyone, the offshore wind vector wasn't as strong region wide compared to specif… Click to Read More
